Your child's health and well-being are an important part of helping them learn and thrive. We appreciate our families partnering with us to keep our Eagles healthy, happy, and ready to learn!
Vision & Hearing Screenings
Our school nurse will begin vision and hearing screenings for:
Pre-K students and Kindergarten students who were not screened last year, all 1st-grade students and students who are new to SMCPS.
Screenings will be conducted as time permits over the next several months.
Vision and hearing screenings are relatively short processes designed to identify children who may be at risk for vision or hearing concerns. Screenings are not diagnostic and do not replace examinations performed by a health care or eye care professional that may provide diagnosis and treatment, if needed.
Undetected or uncorrected vision and hearing concerns may impact a child's development, behavior, learning, health, and overall well-being.
A student whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) objects in writing to hearing and vision screening based on the tenets and practices of a recognized church or religious denomination of which the student is an adherent or member may not be required to participate.
