🦅  Principal's Message  🦅

🦅 WAY TO SHOW UP, EAGLES!

Our Eagles continue to show us the power of being at school, on time and ready to learn! Thank you, families, for making school attendance a priority. Your commitment sends a powerful message to your children: every school day matters, every student matters and every day is an opportunity to learn, grow and succeed.

Congratulations to our PreK and 5th grade Eagles for meeting or exceeding Maryland’s required 94% attendance rate last week! 🎉👏 A special shout-out to 5th Grade, who once again SOARed to the top with the highest attendance rate of the week! 🦅💙 What will your incentive selection be this week?

And the PANTS (Perfect Attendance No Tardies) celebrations continue! Ms. Morgan had another great week making her rounds and delivering PANTS recognition to classrooms filled with students who showed up every day, on time and ready to learn. Well done!

Let’s keep the momentum going, Eagles! When we show up, we SOAR! 🦅💙

💙 CELEBRATING MS. DOROTHY COLE!

This week is Community Schools Coordinator Appreciation Week and we want to take a moment to celebrate our wonderful Ms. Dorothy Cole! 🎉

Ms. Cole plays such an important role in connecting our Carver families, students, staff and community partners with the resources and support they need to thrive. Her dedication, compassion and commitment to our Carver Family make a difference every day.

Thank you, Ms. Cole, for all you do to help our Eagles and families SOAR! We are so grateful to have you in the Nest! 🦅💙

🔐 A PARENT’S GUIDE TO FIREARM STORAGE

Keeping our children and community safe is a shared responsibility. As required by the State of Maryland, schools are providing families with important guidance regarding safe firearm storage.

Please help keep firearms away from children and others who may be at risk by following these important safety practices:

Store and lock firearms unloaded.

Store and lock ammunition separately from firearms—every time.

Keep keys and combinations to firearm safes inaccessible to minors and anyone at risk of violence against themselves or others.

If someone in the household is experiencing a crisis, temporarily remove firearms from the home.

Avoid storing firearms unattended in vehicles to help prevent theft.

Thank you for doing your part to help keep our Carver Eagles, families, and community safe. Additional information is available in the resources below:

As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support of our Eagles!

Keep SOARing, Carver Family! 🦅💙

💊 Medication Safety Reminder from Nurse Crystal & Ms. Morgan

We want to share an important reminder regarding medications brought to school. For the safety of all students, medications may not be sent to school with students or transported in a student’s backpack.  All medications must be brought directly to the school by a parent/guardian and must be accompanied by the appropriate medication order from the student’s physician. This includes prescription, over the counter and other medications that your child may need during the school day.

We know that mornings can be busy and we appreciate your help in following this important safety procedure. Keeping medications secured and properly documented helps us ensure that they are administered safely and only to the students for whom they are prescribed.

Please do not place medication in your child’s backpack or ask your child to bring it to school.  Thank you for partnering with us to keep all of our Eagles safe and healthy!  Nurse Crystal & Ms. Morgan 🦅

The link to the forms can be found HERE. This link also provides information for physical forms, lead forms, immunizations required, and any specific forms needed for chronic conditions. If you have any concerns please feel free to contact Nurse Crystal at cmmurphy@smcps.org, thank you!
