Greetings, White Marsh families!

This will be a shorter week for the Bears.  Monday is Labor Day; there is no school for students on Monday.

On Friday, there will be a WMES Site Based Volunteer Training held at 9:30 in the Cafeteria.  Remember, in order to be a volunteer or field trip chaperone at WMES you must complete this training every year prior to supporting students.  The Bears are also encouraged to wear Blue on Friday to show their White Marsh Spirit!

ATSI Information:

During the 2022 - 2023 school year, White Marsh was identified as an Additional Targeted Support and Improvement school for our Special Education Sub-group performance. Schools are identified as ATSI if they have at least one student group performing as low as the lowest performing 5% of Title I schools. In addition, our Chronically Absent student population negatively impacted our Culture and Climate Data on the Maryland School Report Card. Our school will continue to work diligently to improve the performance of our special education students, decrease the chronic absenteeism, and ensure all students make positive gains academically.

Car tags are provided only to those students who are Daily Car Riders, and complete an application.  Please pay attention to the 3 signs on the shoulder of Thompson Corner Rd near our exit; cars are not permitted to line up there while waiting to drop off or pick up because this interferes with our bus drivers' line of sight and poses a hazard.

As part of our back-to-school preparations, we are working to clear outstanding student account balances and ensure records are up to date. Families with unpaid balances are encouraged to review their student's account through MySchoolBucks (www.myschoolbucks.com) and make arrangements for payment before the start of the school year. Families may receive a courtesy email reminder regarding outstanding balances as part of this effort. If you have questions about a balance or need assistance, please contact the school office. A friendly reminder that student use of cell phones during school is not permitted.  All cell phones should be off and away.  In addition, the text feature of smartwatches should be off, as well.  The use of electronic devices including student laptops are also not permitted on WMES buses.

St. Mary’s County Public Schools (SMCPS) is asking all parents/guardians who do not already have a MySchoolBucks account to create an online account.  The MySchoolBucks platform is a convenient, secure, and efficient school payment solution for all stakeholders.

The enrollment process is easy and getting started is simple. Parents can visit the MySchoolBucks website or download the free "MSB Parent" application from their device's app store.
